Custom Fireplace & Design was founded over 45 years ago, when Tim Fry began working alongside his father and brothers building fireplaces across Southern Utah. What started as a small family effort grew — one custom build at a time — into one of the region's most trusted fireplace companies.
To help the business grow in today's faster-moving world, Tim partnered with Louis Garrett. Together, they brought modern expertise and operational know-how into a business already built on craftsmanship, fair pricing, and old-school integrity. The combination is what makes us different.
What hasn't changed
We still hand-design every fireplace. We still answer the phone ourselves. We still walk through your home, listen to what you actually want, and price the job honestly — same as we did 45 years ago.
We're not a national chain. We're not a franchise. We're a St. George-based, family-owned shop that has been here longer than most of our customers' homes have existed. And we plan to be here for the next 45 years too.

Tim Fry
Tim founded Custom Fireplace over 45 years ago alongside his father and brothers. His hands-on craftsmanship and uncompromising standards built the company's reputation across Southern Utah. He still works in the field, walks job sites, and answers questions directly — because that's how he believes a fireplace company should be run.
Louis Garrett
Louis partnered with Tim to bring modern systems and operational growth into the business without changing what made it work. He handles design consultations, oversees project planning, and makes sure every install reflects the company's family-business values from start to finish.
